MILAN—Prometeon Tyre Group, the former Pirelli industrial tire business, has launched a new truck and bus tire brand globally.
The Anteo name is part of the Italian company's move from a mono-brand to a multi-brand approach, the tire maker said. Prometeon's premium brand will remain Pirelli, but Anteo will extend the company's offerings to cover other market segments and price points.
"Our Premium proposal clearly consists of Pirelli-branded products with Prometeon technology," Giorgio Bruno, Chairman and CEO of Prometeon Tyre Group said in a statement. "At the same time, it is very important to build up our own brand portfolio. Anteo is the first one, confirming our focus on and our dedication to the truck and bus sector. We are doing this is order to create value for our partners and our company."
Developed with a special focus on safety, Prometeon claims that Anteo maintains performance particularly with wet grip. The tires were developed at production plants in Turkey and Brazil, according to Chief Technology Officer Alexandre Bregantim.
Prometeon highlighted several features of the Anteo line, including:
- Optimized rubber compounds for long life;
- Retreadability; and
- Reinforced bead with wrapped chafer for enhanced strength and durability.
Starting with the launch of Anteo, Prometeon also said it is taking a platform approach toward tire sales and services. This will include supplying "the necessary systems and technological solutions" along with its tires, through an extended Prometeon dealer network.
The tire maker said it will present more details of its new platform-approach in the coming months.
