ISTANBUL—Kordsa Inc. has launched CM14, a fast press curable resin designed to eliminate waterspot and whitespot problems, providing high visual clarity.
The resin is especially formulated for cosmetic grade visual carbon look, and opens the possibility of use of prepregs in automotive mass production, Kordsa said.
The formulation achieves an enhanced visual quality optimized for automotive mass production through an innovation reached at its research and development center located at Composite Technologies Center of Excellence.
Because of long duration of composite manufacturing techniques, composite materials were not able to reach the takt time of the automotive industry, which limited previous generation prepregs and restricted composite use to high-end segments. The new formulation is designed to work in automotive mass production.
