KETTERING, England—Pedro Matos, Apollo Tyres chief quality and business excellence officer, has been named to lead the company's OE strategy and sales for passenger car tires in Europe.
The move, according to Apollo Vice Chairman Neeraj Kanwar, is part of the tire maker's plan to become "a strategic long-term partner for all the (original equipment manufacturers) in Europe."
Matos has more than 25 years of experience in the tire industry and has worked directly with several major European OEMs in quality, research and development, and sales positions, Apollo said in a statement.
"Pedro's appointment demonstrates Apollo Tyres' full commitment to its OE journey in Europe," Kanwar said.
According to Benoit Rivallant, president of Apollo Vredestein, being seen as a key player by European OEMs is one of Apollo Vredestein's strategic goals.
With Matos leading the OE strategy in Europe, the company expects to achieve "long-term success" in the region, Rivallant added.
