FAIRLAWN, Ohio—Continental A.G.'s ContiTech business unit has unveiled a new industrial hose with a static dissipating liner that will have applications in the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
The VersaChem-brand hose is a premium universal hose that is constructed with the liner made of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, according to a company statement. It is being targeted to the North American market and is available through Conti's distribution network on the continent.
"This product is specially made for applications where static dissipation is a requirement, such as conveying chemicals in an explosive atmosphere," said Randy Kish, Conti's marketing manager for fluid power products. "The inner liner of the hose is constructed with a white non-porous UHMWPE liner that is compliant with FDA regulations."
Conti said it is targeting the VersaChem hose at the petrochemical industry, downstream and midstream bulk hauling, tank trucks, railroad cars, the pharmaceutical industry, food and beverage applications, and distilleries.
It offers a 250 PSI working pressure and complies to Association for Rubber Products Manufacturers guidelines on 4:1 safety factor that is critical in hazardous applications.
