SHANGHAI—Continental A.G. has secured a follow-on order for future metro projects in Shanghai.
The new agreement will cover the supply of air springs to the Chinese rolling stock company CRRC Corp. Ltd. The units will help reduce noise and add comfort in the new train models, according to Jianhua Hao, Continental China's head of marketing and sales.
"Our air springs have a low natural frequency, which minimizes the transmission of vibrations," Hao said.
Shanghai plans to expand the rail network to 22 lines covering about 600 miles by 2020, up from 16 lines about 400 miles today.
Continental has supplied parts and systems for the Shanghai metro since it started operating 25 years ago.
