TOKYO—Mercedes-AMG G.m.b.H. has selected 19- and 20-inch versions of the Yokohama Advan Sport V105 tire as an OE fitment for the car tuner's E 53 4MATIC+ series, which includes sedan, station wagon, coupe and cabriolet models.
Mercedes-AMG is Daimler-Benz A.G.'s authorized aftermarket tuning company. The E-Class 53-series was launched worldwide in summer 2018 and announced in Japan in September 2018.
The E 53 series is powered by an AMG-developed electrified 3-liter six-cylinder inline engine rated at 429 hp, augmented by a 48-volt electrical and couples with AMG Performance's 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive.
AMG has spec'd two sets of tires for the E 53 series—245/40ZR19 (98Y) front and 275/35ZR19 (100Y) rear and 245/35ZR20 (95Y) front and 275/30ZR20 (97Y) rear.
Yokohama describes the Advan Sport V105 as high-performance tire developed primarily for use on high-power premium automobiles and offering "excellent" driving performance combined with "superior" comfort and safety characteristics.
The tires being supplied to Mercedes-AMG jointly developed jointly with the car maker and bear the firm's "MO" mark of approval on the sidewall, Yokohama said.
