TOKYO—Yokohama Rubber Co. has been supplying its Advan Sport V105 to the BMW Group as original equipment fitment on the M Performance BMW X5 since July.
The new X5 model, which launched globally in Novemberm, is equipped with 275/40R21 107Y size front tires and 315/35R21 111Y rear tires.
The Advan Sport V105 is a high-performance tire developed primarily for use on high-power premium vehicles, Yokohama said, noting that it was developed with BMW. The tires feature Silentfoam, a specially-designed polyurethane foam, that reduces tire cavity resonance—the noise created inside the tire as it vibrates while running over uneven road surfaces.
In February last year, Yokohama launched a medium-term management plan dubbed GD2020. With that vision in mind, Yokohama has shifted strategic focus on expanding its premium tire market share. It also plans to increase OE fitments with premium car makers around the world.
