COPLEY TWP., Ohio—Preferred Compounding has expanded its product portfolio and capabilities with the bolt-on acquisition of Akron-based compounder Valley Rubber Mixing.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
With the acquisition, Preferred not only adds to its rubber mixing and calendering capabilities, it also takes on Valley Rubber's line of Glo-Mold cleaning products, opening a new area for growth, according to Ken Bloom, Preferred president and CEO.
"We feel our commercial channels will help grow the Glo-Mold business significantly," Bloom said in a statement. "Preferred will work closely with the VRM customers to assure a smooth transition."
A supplier of custom mixed rubber compounds to molders, extruders and mixers, Preferred serves several industries, including automotive, construction and rolled goods. It is owned by members of its management team and Audax Private Equity.
