Paper submissions for the inaugural Healthcare Elastomer Conference are being accepted until Jan. 25.
The event will be held May 21-22 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in Schaumburg, Ill. The conference is being organized jointly by PolyOne Corp., R.D. Abbott Co. Inc. and Rubber & Plastics News.
The co-chairs for the conference are Bernard Powell of PolyOne and Rick Ziebell of R.D. Abbott. In selecting presentations, they are looking to highlight new technologies, trends and ideas in elastomer design and function, aimed at engineers within the medical community. The talks must be technical, not commercial, in nature.
Conference topics should focus on health care elastomers, including silicones, polyisoprenes, isobutylene Isoprenes, thermoplastic elastomers, urethanes, vulcanizates and olefins. The agenda will explore new technologies, 3D manufacturing, wearable medical devices, Food and Drug Administration regulations, managing both change and risk, productivity, self-bonding materials and green initiatives.
