NOVI, Mich.—Cooper Standard Holdings Inc. will supply the 2020 Ford Explorer with sealing and fluid transfer systems.
The agreement includes Cooper Standard's Fortrex-brand elastomeric material for a static sealing system in the Explorer, the sixth generation of the vehicle, according to a company news release.
Cooper Standard also will provide engine cooling hose assemblies, including e-motor and battery cooling, as well as transmission oil cooler hose assemblies.
"We have an outstanding global team of employees that are committed to serving our customers and creating value with products and technologies that enhance performance and address today's automotive trends," said Patrick Clark, Cooper Standard senior vice president and chief global engineering and product strategy officer.
Cooper Standard said Fortrex is a lightweight elastomeric material that can provide performance advantages over EPDM and thermoset plastics in terms of weight reduction, weathering, durability and sound characteristics. The material won the 2018 Automotive News PACE award, and can be used in both automotive and non-automotive applications.
Cooper Standard, headquartered in Novi, Mich., employs about 33,000 people and operates in 21 countries.
