ANQING, Anhui—Lanlan New Materials broke ground in December on a waterborne polyurethane resin and auto sealant flocking plant in Anqing.
Located at the city's high-tech Industrial Development Zone, the project has total area of about 650,000 square feet. Its planned annual capacity includes 75,000 metric tons of waterborne PU resin and coatings; 5,000 tons of auto sealant flock adhesive; and 262,000 feet of auto sealant flock belt.
With rougly $77 million investment earmarked, the plant is due to come on stream in May 2020. The company's website also suggests production will be worth $438 million in annual production value.
Lanlan is a subsidiary of Lanou Chemical, which is part of Shanghai-headquartered high polymer group Liulian. According to a local government website, Lanou was the first Chinese company to develop one-component waterborne PU coatings in the auto sealing segment. The company made the breakthrough in 2010.
Meanwhile, in 2011, Lanou's auto waterborne coating products had a greater market share in China than some of its international competitors.
