WEST CHESTER, Pa.—Sartomer Co., a business unit of Arkema Inc., celebrated the 50th anniversary of its West Chester production plant.
The facility produces specialty chemical building blocks used by other manufacturers for advanced materials, chemical intermediates, personal care and 3D printing applications, according to a Sartomer news release.
Sartomer looks forward to building on the half-century foundation while supporting customer needs and working as a corporate neighbor to the region, according to Sartomer Americas President Kenny Messer at the celebration ceremony.
Sartomer's West Chester facility provides technical expertise to the West Chester Local Emergency Planning Committee, offers a shadowing program for high school students and partners with Drexel University for a cooperative program. It also provides an annual scholarship to a West Chester University student and sponsors teachers from local schools who team with Sartomer mentors to review science experiments. Through work with the West Chester Community Action Panel, site management meets with local community residents to review Chester County support.
Facility employees work with local organizations such as Chester County Food Cupboard, Chester County Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, CRC Watershed Association, Doing Our Part Eclectically and the United Way.
State Sen. Andrew Dinniman recognized the company with a certificate at the celebration ceremony.
