MUNICH—Wacker Chemie A.G. and Fuji Polymer Industries will work collaboratively on the development of thermal interface materials.
Fuji, a manufacturer of silicone rubber products, will use Wacker's room-temperature-curing Elastosil silicones for manufacturing silicone-based heat-conducting components, according to a Wacker news release.
The companies will collaborate on developing high-efficiency thermal interface products for electronic devices and batteries in electric vehicles, Wacker said.
Both Wacker and Fuji produce silicone products, with Wacker supplying non-crosslinked pastelike silicones in gels, adhesives and sealants, and Fuji supplying ready-to-use silicone elastomer parts such as contact mats, films and pads for electronic and automotive manufacturers.
The companies will continue to intensify their collaboration to develop innovative materials to meet market demands, said Christian Gimber, head of engineering silicones at Wacker.
Wacker and Fuji will present components based on Elastosil at the 11th International Automotive Electronics Technology Expo 2019 in Tokyo, beginning Jan. 16.
Fuji will use Wacker's "Based on Elastosil" logo for branding its high-end silicone-based thermal interface materials.
