MLADA BOLESLAV, Czech Republic—Henniges Automotive Inc. will open a new technical and innovation center in the Czech Republic in 2019.
The firm said the move is designed to strengthen its research and development competence in the region. The site, located in Mlada Boleslav, will span about 23,000 square feet and support all new projects and innovation programs in Europe. It represents a $3.6 million investment, plus part of a $1.8 million state investment incentive from the Czech Government.
The center is scheduled to open in the spring of 2019 and expects to eventually employ 75 people. The site will become the firm's new European headquarters.
Henngies said the site is an "advantageous location" near its other manufacturing plants and key European customers. It will feature state-of-the-art development and testing facilities, 3D rapid prototyping and laser scanning capabilities, climatic testing, and simulation.
"The new technical and innovation center will reflect Henniges' research and development competence and extensive technical expertise," Henniges President Larry Williams said in a statement. "The resources and access of this facility will enable us to remain at the forefront of anti-vibration, vehicle sealing and glass encapsulation technologies while keeping our commitment to offering innovative new solutions to customers."
The firm intends to link its new technical center with other nearby Henniges facilities to improve synergies in product design processes, validation and marketing. It also will allow Henniges to strengthen its customer relationships with European car manufacturers.
In addition to the new center, Henniges has plans for further expansions in 2019, including a new manufacturing plant in South America. The company produces sealing systems for doors, windows, trunks, lift gates, sunroofs and hoods; also supplying the automotive market with anti-vibration components and encapsulated glass systems. It employs 8,700 people worldwide.
