NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Nokian Tyres P.L.C. has opened its North American headquarters office in Nashville, housing the company's sales, customer service, IT, logistics and marketing teams.

As many as 30 employees will work from the renovated facility, which has around 6,000 square feet of space and features an open-concept work environment. Several employees chose to move to Nashville, while others remain at the Finnish tire maker's previous North American headquarters in Colchester, Vt., which continues to serve as an office and distribution warehouse.

Mark Earl, senior vice president, Americas, said employees have received a "warm welcome" in the Volunteer state.

"We are pleased to be a member of the Nashville and Tennessee business communities, and we look forward to deepening relationships here and continuing our successful growth," he said.

Nokian, which emphasizes its employees' health and well-being at its locations, said the workspace concept fosters collaboration and allows employees to work where they feel most comfortable, from couches and tables to ergonomic, adjustable-height desks.

The Nokia, Finland-based tire maker recently revealed a plan to double sales in North America over the next five years. The plan will be bolstered in 2020, when Nokian's first U.S. plant is slated to open in Dayton Tenn., around two hours from Nashville.

The $360 million factory will have a capacity of 4 million tires per year and employ approximately 400. The site also will feature a distribution facility with a storage capacity of 600,000 tires.

Nokian said it will begin hiring workers in the first quarter of the new year.

"The Dayton factory is a vital element of our growth strategy, and we continue to make satisfying progress on its construction," Earl said. "By crafting premium tires in the heart of East Tennessee and planting roots in Middle Tennessee, we aim to contribute to both communities while helping our company thrive."

Those interested in job opportunities at the Nashville office or Dayton factory should monitor LinkedIn's talent network for updates.
