LONDON—Bridgestone Corp. is in the middle of restructuring its Diversified Products operations to focus more on "solution" packages.
The Diversified Products unit manufactures conveyor belts, hydraulic hoses, rubber tracks, seismic shock-absorbers, automotive parts, construction materials and sports equipment.
The restructuring aims to leverage the potential for "more tightly integrated elements" of the group's portfolio, Bridgestone said in a Nov. 21 written statement. This, it said, would combine maintenance services, IT/sensing technologies, tires and diversified products to meet the needs of customers in mining, fleets and agriculture.
While it declined to give further details, Bridgestone did confirm that the sale of its PureBeta semiconductors business to Maruwa Co. was part of the plan.
PureBeta supplies ceramics silicon carbide components for electronics and industrial applications.
