SOUTHAMPTON, Pa.—NewAge Industries Inc. has expanded its Southampton facility and headquarters to keep up with demand for its AdvantaPure brand.
CEO Ken Baker said the company invested $10 million into the addition of 44,000 square feet to the location, tripling the company's available clean room space. Of the addition, 24,000 square feet is dedicated to new ISO Class 7 and 8 clean rooms and 20,000 square feet is new warehousing.
The clean rooms support the company's capabilities to produce platinum-cured silicone tubing, molded components and single-use molded tubing assemblies for the biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical industries within the AdvantaPure line.
AdvantaPure, which was started in 2000, has been growing quickly in the last six years, Baker said. The new area was designed and built with a product flow-through design for raw materials, extrusion, molding, inspection and packaging. The project was completed without stoppages or product shortages by moving manufacturing equipment in phases.
The expansion, which finished on schedule after two years, also provided an opportunity to upgrade the flooring and lighting, adding LED lights to the facility for energy efficiency, Baker said.
"We're a totally green company," Baker said. "We have solar panels on the roof, we recycle. We changed out all our windows with high-efficiency windows, we're landfill-free."
NewAge also took the chance to add about $1.8 million in new equipment, bringing in a new silicone extrusion line and a vertical injection molding press, as well as some ancillary equipment.
The company added warehouse space to stock product and hold inventory for customers, Baker said.
NewAge has already hired about 10 new employees for this facility, and has current job openings, Baker said. He plans to hire about 5-6 more employees within the next year.
NewAge, started in 1954, is in its 12th year of employee ownership through an ESOP.
