NEWMARKET, Canada—AirBoss of America Corp.'s AirBoss Defense business was awarded the Joint Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear General Service Respirator contract for the Canadian Department of National Defense.
The contract, worth as much as $22.9 million plus potential revenue from an 8-year in-service support contract, calls for delivery of up to 77,800 of its Low Burden Mask and up to 155,600 of its canister, according to an AirBoss news release.
AirBoss Defense, the defense products line of AirBoss's Engineered Products segment, is expected to begin delivery in 2019 and continue through 2020. The project is meant to replace the C4-CBRN gas masks and C7A canisters now in service with Canadian forces, in a larger objective to support standing and mission specific task forces, immediate reaction units and high-readiness units.
The contract is the first major adoption by a modern military of the company's LBM, AirBoss said.
AirBoss Defense designs, develops and manufactures chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense personal protective equipment, as well as protection against communicable diseases and respiratory threats.
