NEWMARKET, Ontario—AirBoss of America Corp. has received an IDIQ contract from the U.S. Department of Defense for the purchase of molded gloves that are part of the AirBoss Defense line.
The contract, worth as much as $36.5 million, consists of an initial base year and two option years with a delivery period from the forth quarter of 2018 through fourth quarter 2019. It calls for the manufacturing of up to 1.62 million pairs of gloves.
To date, AirBoss Defense has received two orders for a total of 540,000 pairs of gloves worth about $11.4 million.
AirBoss' molded gloves are designed to provide the military and first responders with protection against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats. The company also claims that the gloves offer protection for a range of toxic industrial chemicals.
Throughout the last decade military and first responder forces throughout 40 countries have used more than 4.6 million pairs of the AirBoss molded gloves. Total sales of the those gloves reaches about $108 million.
AirBoss Defense is part of the firm's Engineered Products segment.
