A look at the new 2019 Nissan Altima.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Hankook Tire America Corp. will supply its Kinergy GT tire (pattern H436) as an original equipment fitment on the redesigned 2019 Nissan Altima, expanding the relationship between the tire company and the auto maker.

The move also makes Hankook the only company supplying the 2019 Altima with 19-inch rim fitments.

The Kingery GT with its specific tread pattern was selected in part for its performance in all weather conditions, including rain and snow, Hankook said in a news release. It also offers low rolling resistance, which helps to expand the life of the tire and maximize fuel efficiency.

"Our Kinergy GT tire is known for its swift adaptations to different road conditions, providing drivers with a pleasant driving experience," Hyun Jun Cho, head of Hankook's OE division said in a statement.

The tires, manufactured in plants in Smyrna, Tenn., and Canton, Miss., will be specified in two sizes: 215/60R16H and 235/40R19V.

Hankook Tire will equip the 2019 Nissan Altima with its Kinergy GT tire.

The 2019 Altima features the world's first variable compression turbo engine, which, according to Nissan, literally changes shape as it makes adjustments in compression ratio for maximized output or mpg.

It also is the first Nissan sedan to offer intelligent all-wheel drive, Safety Shield 360 with rear automatic braking and Pro Pilot Assist.

The redesigned Altima is key in Nissan's attempt to boost a lackluster sedan sales market.

Hankook has served as an OE supplier for several Nissan models in recent years—the Altima, Rogue and Frontier.

"The partnership with Nissan is the latest example of Hankook Tire's steady growth in the global tire market, especially in the U.S.," Hankook said. "The company is fueling its momentum through industry-leading innovation and a tailored focus on the needs of regional consumers and auto makers."
