LUXEMBOURG—Orion Engineered Carbons S.A. has selected Corning Painter, a former executive at Air Products and Chemicals Inc., to succeed Jack Clem as the company's CEO.
Clem, who has held the CEO position since 2011, is set to retire. He has been nominated to join the board of directors and, during a transition period, will act as an advisor to the company, Orion said in a news release.
The appointments are subject to approval by shareholders, who will vote on the matter during a special general meeting planned for Oct. 16.
Painter began his career at Air Products in 1984 as part of the company's career development program. He rose through the ranks and held leadership positions in operations, supply chain, corporate strategy and technology at the company. Before leaving the company at the end of June, he held the position of executive vice president of industrial gases.
