RADNOR, Pa.—Avantor Inc. published a new white paper from its NuSil Technology L.L.C. brand to help medical device manufacturers evaluate and select silicone adhesives.
"How to Select Silicone Adhesives for Medical Device Manufacturing" provides tips for selecting biocompatible silicone adhesives to improve medical device manufacturing, according to an Avantor news release.
The report includes an overview of considerations from cure characteristics and application factors to criteria in adhesion and purity in selecting biocompatible silicone adhesives. It also includes a guide to choose appropriate adhesive based on substrate, cure rates, rheology, and work time.
The white paper outlines advantages of each formulation and performance benefits related to various device manufacturing processes. It also covers customization opportunities for various applications.
The paper reviews key points to help device manufacturers select a suitable adhesive and identify a silicone manufacturer that can meet those specifications as well as test and certify on a batch-to-batch level, said Jim Lambert, technology and innovation director, biomaterials.
