MELKSHAM, England—The U.S. Department of Defense has placed a $25 million order for 93,000 M50 mask systems with Avon Rubber P.L.C.
The order, Avon said in a news release, will be the first in the book for the 2019 fiscal year, which begins in October.
"We continue to pursue a number of identified opportunities with the DoD and rest of world military customers to build the order book further," Avon said in a statement.
In May, the Melksham-based group reported an 18.9 percent year-on-year rise in operating profit from continued operation, to $12.8 million, on first-half sales of $100.1 million—5.9 percent higher than a year ago.
The gains reflected increased demand for Avon Protection's law enforcement products, positive military order intake and growth in the farm services market, Avon said.
