DETMOLD, Germany—Steinbach A.G. has started to manufacture seamless seals of up to nearly 10 feet in diameter for their customers.
The move, it said, is in response to the requirements of industrial customers, including those in the offshore, plant-construction and aerospace sectors.
According to Steinbach, many seals and punched parts previously were limited to a width of 5.25 feet due to the maximum available width of the starting material.
"This meant that larger parts could only be manufactured with bothersome joint seams" Steinbach said.
Steinbach, however, recently acquired an XXL-Rotocure vulcanizing calender, which can process elastomers up to a width of 10.5 feet and material thicknesses of 0.5 to 6 millimeters.
"This allows large seals and punched parts to be manufactured without seams," Steinbach said, noting that the capability has expanded its portfolio into sectors such as offshore and refinery.
