WAKEFIELD, Mass.—Alliance Tire Americas Inc. will showcase its Alliance 398 MPT radial flotation tire at the Farm Progress Show, Aug. 28-30, in Boone, Iowa.
The Alliance 398 MPT (multi-purpose tire) radial flotation tire is designed for manure carts, tanks and feed trucks that require a combination of high flotation and high-speed road performance.
The Alliance 398 MPT carries a Departmemt of Transportation "J" speed rating for speeds up to 62 mph, making it a comparable replacement for standard dual truck tires, according to James Crouch, ATA national product manager for agriculture.
Alliance said the 398 MPT is the industry's only DOT-rated directional radial flotation tire.
"By replacing standard truck tire duals with the Alliance 398 MPT, you will experience less rutting and lower soil compaction, all without sacrificing performance on the road," Crouch said.
The 398 MPT features all-steel radial construction for durability in the field and maximum heat dissipation on the road. Aggressive lugs with sharp shoulders enhance traction in mud and soft soil conditions, while a dense center rib block pattern adds stability for enhanced road performance and steering, the company said.
The tire is available in two sizes—445/65R22.5 MPT for steering axles and 600/50R22.5 MPT for drive positions—with more sizes are in development, according to Alliance, a Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. subsidiary.
