TIMISOARA, Romania—Continental A.G. is investing $4.6 million to improve the environmental impact of its tire production unit in Timisoara.
The project involves upgrading a regenerative thermal oxidation system for treating olfactory emissions, a company spokesman told European Rubber Journal. Improvements to the own-built system, which was installed at the Romanian plant in 2015, are expected to reduce odors from production by as much as 80 percent.
In a separate development, Conti purchased 79-acre plot of land near the site, where it will build a warehouse and logistics center for the factory.
"This land acquisition will help the company optimize costs with logistics activities and expand storage capacity for finished goods," the spokesman said.
