PAWTUCKET, R.I.—Teknor Apex Co. has appointed Sachin Sakhalkar as vice president for its global thermoplastic elastomer business.
Sakhalkar will have global responsibility for the company's TPE brands, including compounds offered under the Elexar for electrical and electronics applications, Medalist for medical devices, Monprene for consumer and industrial products, and Sarlink for transportation.
Teknor Apex manufactures TPEs at eight locations in the U.S., Belgium, Germany, and Singapore.
"Sachin has already played a central role in the strong growth of our TPE business in the Americas and will build on this success in his new global position," Executive Vice President Suresh Swaminathan said in a statement. "Under his leadership, the business will continue to build upon its diverse TPE product portfolio within Europe, Asia Pacific and other world regions."
Sakhalkar joined Teknor Apex in 2005 as a new business development manager for the TPE Division. In 2011, he was promoted to the position of director of strategic marketing and new business development, and in 2015, he became business manager for the TPE business in the Americas.
Before coming to Teknor Apex, he spent seven years with Basell Polyolefins (now LyondellBasell Industries) as manager of strategic marketing and innovation.
