CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Ceat Specialty Tyres Ltd. has added a low-compaction, high-traction product to its North American agricultural line, the Farmax R65.
The tire comes is five sizes—480/65R28, 540/65R28, 600/65R34, 650/65R38 and 650/65R42—and has a seven-year warranty. It joins the Farmax R85 and the Farmax R70 in Ceat's North America lineup.
Ceat said the tire's flexible sidewalls, superior construction, wider tread width and higher inner tire volume help reduce soil compaction and carries more load, while a lower angle at the shoulder improves traction. A higher lug angle in the center provides roadability, the company said.
The R1-W tread depth provides longer service life, Ceat said, while increased lugs in the footprint and greater lug overlap contribute to a longer service life, as well as a better ride.
Ceat Managing Director Vijay Gambhire said the response the company has received from ag tire dealers and farmers has been encouraging.
"Clearly there was room for a good quality product at a very attractive price point and backed by a fantastic warranty assurance in the market," he said.
Ceat Ltd., India's No. 4 tire maker, established the business unit in Charlotte in mid-2017 to handle the launch of Ceat-branded radial agricultural and specialty tires in the U.S.
