COPENHAGEN, Denmark—Haldor Topsoe A.S. was chosen by Sinopec Qilu Petrochemical Corp. to provide a catalyst charge for a new regenerative catalyst oxidizer.
The catalyst, a platinum monolith that oxidizes hazardous volatile organic compounds into CO2 and H2O at very low temperatures, is used at the Sinopec styrene-butadiene rubber plant in Zibo, China. It has been optimized to meet Sinopec requirements for performance, total investment cost and pressure drop, Topsoe said, noting that it was delivered to Sinopec in fewer than three months.
Sinipec's Zibo facility has two lines with a total capacity of 240,000 normal cubic meters per hour, making it the largest SBR emissions control project operating in Asia.
In addition to SBR, the catalyst can be used in other industries such as purified terephthalic acid, formaldehyde, ethylene oxide and CO2 purification.
Sinopec is part of Sinopec Group, a global oil refining, gas and petrochemical conglomerate.
Topsoe provides VOC removal solutions or individual deliveries according to customer requirements.
