MUNICH—Wacker Chemie A.G. has awarded a distribution contract for its silicone products to the Kidlington, England-based Intertronics.
Under the agreement, Intertronics will sell Wacker's range of RTV silicone encapsulants and potting compounds, adhesive sealants, and thermally conductive compounds to customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Wacker said in a statement.
Intertronics serves technology manufacturing customers, working in areas such as electronics, lighting, automotive, defense and aerospace. Wacker, which manufactures silicone rubber products for applications such as sealants and gaskets, adhesives, and protective potting and encapsulation materials, said the partnership with Intertronics is good fit.
These applications, the German company noted, "are very familiar to the Intertronics team."
Another area of demand for Wacker's products will be in thermal management as electronics designs continue to pursue increasing power in smaller circuits.
"Silicone chemistry offers…outstanding long term temperature stability, very good chemical resistance and long-lasting flexibility," said Peter Swanson, MD of Intertronics commenting on the partnership.
