FORT MILL, S.C.—Continental Tire the Americas is rolling out a pair of updated all-season touring tires—the PureContact LS and TrueContact Tour—that feature improvements in several key performance areas.
According to Travis Roffler, director of marketing, Conti re-engineered the tread compounds and patterns of both tires to increase tread life, reduce road noise and improve wet braking capabilities.
Conti employed elements of its proprietary EcoPlus technology to enhance the wet grip properties of the PureContact LS by 10 percent while also improving wear by 23 percent over the predecessor PureContact.
The PureContact LS is designed for luxury cars and luxury sports cars and is available in 29 sizes in rim diameters ranging from 16 to 20 inches.
Other specific improvements include: 50-percent reduction in noise; addition of traction grooves for snow performance; addition of "Quick View" and "Tuned Performance" indicators to enable the driver to see when the tire is no longer performing optimally in dry, wet or snow conditions; use of Alignment Verification System to show when it's time for an alignment.
The TrueContact Tour—designed for passenger cars, minivans and small CUVs—delivers a 27-percent increase in wear over the TrueContact, Conti said.
Key features of the TrueContact Tour include: reduced rolling resistance for greater fuel economy; use of Conti's "Comfort Ride" technology for reduced road vibrations; addition of traction grooves to improve snow performance; and use of Quick View and Tuned Performance indicators.
The TrueContact Tour is available in 45 sizes in rim diameters ranging from 15 to 19 inches.
Both new tires are backed by Continental's Total Confidence Plan, which ensures quality, performance, and an extra measure of confidence.
Highlights of the Total Confidence Plan include: flat tire roadside assistance; road hazard coverage; 60-day customer satisfaction trial; limited treadwear warranty; and tread wearout coverage.
Conti did not comment on the prices of the new products.
