AKRON—Two educational programs are being held concurrently with the International Tire Exhibition & Conference, to be held Sept. 11-13 at the John S. Knight Center in Akron.
ITEC will host the 47th tire mechanics program from Sept. 10-14, planned by Benjamin Chung and put together under the direction of the University of Akron's College of Engineering.
This week-long course will provide engineers and scientists with an intense study of developments in tire engineering. Chung has assembled a faculty of experts to lead the course.
The rubber extrusion technology short course will be held Sept. 12-13. This course, focusing on testing of rubber compounds and extrusion processing, is new to ITEC, but has been presented for many years by industry leaders John Dick and Jim Stevenson.
The course is designed for materials and process technologists involved with rubber extrusion. Technologists working on die and product design, equipment specification, process or quality control, and process development/improvement also will benefit.
Both courses are taught by industry experts, and include the class notes. Attendees will be able to attend the ITEC networking reception, have lunch with other ITEC attendees and walk the exhibition hall. To register, visit www.itec-tireshow.com and click the "register" tab.
