PRAGUE—Nexen Tire has ramped up the recruitment drive for its tire plant under construction in Zatec, Czech Republic.
The program, which was launched in December, aims to secure 500 employees for the facility this year, according to Nexen. Training is being offered for the roles, which include positions for mechanics, setters, tool makers.
The South Korean tire manufacturer expects to complete construction of the facility, with operations scheduled to begin early next year.
Nexen broke ground on the $884 million project in October 2015.
Start-up for phase 1, producing roughly 15,000 units a day, was originally scheduled for 2018.The company plans to gradually increase its annual production capacity to over 12 million units, and create more than 1,000 jobs in the region at the new plant.
The Czech facility is Nexen's second manufacturing unit outside Korea. The other is in Qingdao, China.
