LONGVIEW, Texas—PepsiCo Inc. will update 1,600 trailers in its fleet with products from Stemco Products Inc.
Stemco—which produces commercial vehicle wheel end, braking and suspension components—will supply its TrailerTail and EcoSkirt products to the fleet. Its TrailerTail Trident line is SAE-certified to deliver 5 percent greater fuel efficiency gains at 65 mph.
EcoSkirt is designed to reduce drag under the trailer where air hits the trailer's rear axles. By combining EcoSkirt with TrailerTail, Stemco claims that fleets can achieve fuel savings between 8 percent and 12 percent.
"These trailer skirts and TrailerTail will help us support PepsiCo's 2025 Performance with Purpose agenda, specifically the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent," Keshav Sondhi, PepsiCo director of fleet engineering and sustainability, said in a statement. "This investment in our fleet helps us ensure that we are reducing our impact on the environment while also getting our products into our customers hands as efficiently as possible."
Stemco said in a statement it was "honored" to help PepsiCo achieve its goals.
