NORCROSS, Ga.—FermRFID Solutions, a division of FineLine Technologies Inc., and Camso Inc. began a multi-year development agreement to commercialize a radio-frequency identification (RFID) solution for solid tires.
The patent pending solution, dubbed the "plug", has been in development and testing by both FermRFID and Camso for two years. It can identify and track tires throughout the supply chain from manufacturing, vulcanization, warehousing, shipping and at customer locations, according to a FermRFID release.
As part of the agreement, Camso will commercialize the plug in mass production, as well as other RFID products in development.
The plug creates opportunity for tire manufacturers to explore potential new business models with customers, said George Hoffman, CEO and chairman of the board of FineLine.
The announcement was made jointly by Hoffman and Erick Bellefleur, vice president and general manager-material handling and Camso.
