LJUBLJANA, Slovenia—Lonstroff A.G., part of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, has received about $5.9 million in funding from the Slovenian government to progress its medical parts production plant in the country.
In an April 18 statement, the Slovenian government confirmed the funding for the $61million project in Logatec.
Sumitomo announced the planned investment in August last year.
The plant, which is scheduled to be completed by mid-2020, is expected to create 180 jobs.
Lonstroff, based in Merenschwand, Switzerland, produces and sells rubber parts for pharmaceutical primary packaging and rubber parts for medical applications. SRI bought the business in January of 2015.
According to SRI, the new plant will triple the company's production capacity of primary packaging and rubber parts for medical applications in Europe.
