BOSTON—Cabot Corp. is increasing prices for its rubber carbon black reinforcement materials in North America, effective June 1.
The company said April 13 that the prices for all Vulcan, Sterling, Regal, Spheron and Propel carbon black products would increase by roughly 5 cents per pound except for Vulcan XC-72, Vulcan XC-72 R and Sterling C carbon blacks.
Prices will increase by 4 percent for Black Pearls, Monarch, CRX, Vulcan XC-72, Vulcan XC-72 R and Sterling C carbon black products.
The U.S.-based carbon black supplier said the price increase was necessary to address "persistently rising costs" associated with the manufacturing, regulatory and environmental compliance, packaging, and logistics. It also will allow Cabot to remain a "reliable supplier of high-quality carbon black products to meet growing demand in the region."
