THE WOODLANDS, Texas—Huntsman Corp.'s Advanced Materials division has rolled out a range of ARA Cool curing agents designed to cure more quickly at low temperatures and reduced VOC levels.
Huntsman said three products will be available initially: ARA Cool 3077; ARA Cool 1047 W 80 and ARA Cool 1034 XW 90.
The curing agents—intended for use in heavy-duty, industrial coatings systems—have improved processing speeds at temperatures between 0°C and 10°C, Huntsman said, noting they can process quickly in cold and unpredictable weather.
"This functionality can help coatings professionals extend their application schedules into cooler seasons and work in meteorological conditions previously considered unviable," the firm said in a press release.
The ARA coatings also show improved surface appearance, adhesive properties and pot life, according to Huntsman, which said the coatings are ideal for use in oil and gas, marine, transportation and industrial maintenance fields.
Huntsman will showcase the new curing agents at the American Coatings Show, planned for April 10-12 in Indianapolis. They will be highlighted alongside a range of polyurethane products including formulators Rubinate and Suprasec isocyanates, and the Jeffamine and Jeffsperse dispersant technologies.
Based in The Woodlands, Huntsman manufactures and distributes differentiated and specialty chemicals. Additional information about the company and its products can be found at Huntsman.com.
