SILVER SPRING, Md.—Point Semantics Corp. recently unveiled the MVE-100 High Performance Machine Vision Extensometer, its first structural materials testing product that is intended for measuring elongation, strain and crack opening displacement during the testing of metal alloys, plastics, composites, elastomers, and other materials.
PSC said that the MVE-100 is easy to use, as it requires the operator to mark two dots on the testing specimen and position a camera and lighting source. It also claims that the extensometer is more accurate and efficient in measuring elongation, strain and crack opening with six analog inputs and four outputs. The device features strobing for controlling external devices, and internal and external triggering capabilities and can stretch a specimen more than 20 times its initial length.
