ATLANTA—Marangoni Tread North America Inc.'s Ringtread RTL SA tread rubber has won a Top 20 Products Award, given by Heavy Duty Trucking magazine at the recent American Trucking Associations' Technology & Maintenance Council meeting in Atlanta.
The product for spread-axle trailers, produced by Marangoni in the U.S., is capable of reducing fleet operating cost by 20 percent, the Madison, Tenn.-based company claims.
The award is chosen by a panel of industry experts, Marangoni said, based on innovation, the ability to address industry issues and potential to offer savings for a fleet manager.
According to Marangoni, the product addresses tire drag, twisted shoulders and corner scrubbing. The company added the RTL SA line to the XP Extreme Performance range of premium spliceless tread rubber products.
The RTL SA uses a combination of Marangoni's Ringtread technology and a compound to increase mileage and reduce premature wear when used on spread-axle or multi-axle trailers, which are subject to wear when cornering, due to drag and lateral stress, shoulder twist, scrapes, chipping and tearing.
According to Marangoni, the award demonstrated the company's commitment to excellence, innovation and product development in the truck tire retreading sector.
"The competition represents the very best products in the truck sector. It's worth emphasizing this is the very first time this award has been given to a retread product," Giampaolo Brioschi, Marangoni's corporate research and development director, said.
Brioschi and Bill Sweatman, general manager of Marangoni Tread North America, accepted the award.
The Ringtread XP Extreme Performance line also includes the drive treads: Extreme Fuel Saving RDA-E 25/32; Extreme Traction RDG100 26/32; Extreme Mileage RDG200 27/32; Wide Base RDAone 23/32; and Severe Service RDY-HM+ 30/32.
