AKRON—The dean of the University of Akron's College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering is planning to step down this summer.
Eric J. Amis, dean of the college since July 15, 2014, will relinquish the title effective June 30, the university announced in an email to faculty and staff. He will continue on as a tenured professor of polymer science.
"I have collective pride in all that the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering has accomplished, as well as personal pride in our accomplishments together during my leadership as the dean of the College," Amis said in the email.
Rex Ramsier, the university's senior vice president and provost, will put together a transition plan for the college. A reason for the change was not given in the email.
"The University appreciates Eric's passionate work on behalf of the College and his efforts to expand the reach and reputation of both the College and The University of Akron," Ramsier said in the statement.
