MAASTRICHT, Netherlands—Arlanxeo will expand its global chloroprene rubber production at the facility in Dormagen, Germany, investing millions in the project.
The production capacity will be increased to 70,000 tons per year, during the first quarter of 2019, according to an Arlanxeo release.
The capacity expansion will be undertaken from the second quarter 2018. Within the expansion, a production line will be renewed and equipped with new reactors, having a higher capacity. It will optimize existing processes and make production processes more flexible.
The expansion is a response to an expectation for continuing strong global demand for chloroprene rubbers, said Stefan Rittmann, head of the Arlanxeo business line that produces CR and managing director of Arlanxeo Deutschland GmbH. Demand for chloroprene rubbers is growing by about four percent per year, particularly in Asia and especially in Greater China.
The expansion also represents a commitment to the Dormagen site, which serves global demand, he said.
Arlanxeo markets its chloroprene rubbers under the Baypren and Baypren ALX brands, for use with applications such as cable sheathing belts, conveyor belts and wetsuits, as well as in adhesive applications, and feature high weather, UV and oil resistance.
