DONGYING, China—Tongzhou Chemical, a subsidiary of chemical conglomerate China Eastar Group, is planning to start up its new plant, with 50,000 metric tons of EPDM annual capacity, later this year.
Located in the portal area of Dongying, Shandong province, a hub city for petrochemical industry in China, the plant broke ground in January 2016 and covers an area of 2.15 million square feet.
The facility licenses solution polymerization technology from Italy's IPT and is able to produce over 20 EPDM grades.
The unit will be the first EPDM facility with "world-class technology" built by a non-state Chinese company, Tongzhou said. The plant is backed by a $145 million investment and is expected to generate $182 million annual revenue when on stream.
