TOKYO—Japanese automotive supplier Toyoda Gosei confirmed that some of its products have been affected by data falsification at supplier Toray Hybrid Cord.
Toray Corp. and Toray Hybrid Cord Inc. said Nov. 28 that some of Torday Hybrid Cord's product test data had been falsified.
Following the announcement, Toyoda Gosei launched an investigation into whether its products have been affected.
"It was found that hose reinforcing fibers supplied by Toray Hybrid Cord to Toyoda Gosei included some for which test data had been falsified," a Toyoda Gosei statement said.
These materials, it added, "had been used in some of Toyoda Gosei's brake hoses, oil hoses, radiator hoses and water hoses."
The company added that the issue did no pose an "immediate problem," as the data falsification was "a minor deviation from standards."
Additionally, the Japanese automotive supplier said no problems had occurred during regular performance tests of Toyoda Gosei products.
"With priority on consumer safety and security, Toyoda Gosei is currently confirming that its products comply with customer standards," the firm said.
