CHANGZHOU, China—Arlanxeo released a new semi-crystalline EPDM grade with a high Mooney viscosity for rubber applications in the automotive industry.
Keltan 13561C DE delivers strong mixing and extrusion behavior with high elasticity and collapse resistance in high filled compounds, according to an Arlanxeo release.
The compound is the first Keltan grade with five digits, indicating a high Mooney viscosity at 130 Mooney Unit, Arlanxeo said.
The MU is reached by adding 15 parts of extender oil to the product, resulting in a viscosity of 130 MU, said Gose van Zandvoort, technical manager at Arlanxeo business line Keltan.
The compound can be used for automotive solid seals as well as water seal compounds and automotive coolant hoses, Arlanxeo said.
"This new Keltan grade is not only unique in our portfolio, but also in the global EPDM market," said Chretien Rooijakkers, head of global marketing for the Keltan business line. "We are currently starting to develop recipes for demanding applications to explore the full potential of this product and are considering creating further variants with different ethylene and ENB contents."
The new Keltan grade was launched in China and South America and product samples from commercial plant production are now available worldwide. It is manufactured at Arlanxeo's EPDM plant in Changzhou.
