TRELLEBORG, Sweden—Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is expecting to move to its new global headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, by June.
The company confirmed that work on the new Innovation Center building in Stuttgart was going as planned. The facility will house the business area's global headquarters, its German headquarters and various support departments.
The public, official opening event is scheduled for September, the company said.
At the new location, the research and development area is expanded by 50 percent, and will include an extended test field and an Internet-of-Things lab.
"The building is intended to further raise the bar in terms of sealing material and product development and will provide the ideal environment for future joint development projects with our customers," Trelleborg said.
Commenting on the technologies to be pursued at the center, TSS said its R&D strategy will focus on a number of technologies including additive manufacturing technologies and intelligent sealing systems, such as "cognitive sealing systems."
A major emphasis at the new center will be energy conservation through low friction, according to the firm.
