GASTONIA, N.C.—The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality recognized the Firestone Fibers & Textiles plant in Gastonia, a Bridgestone Americas Inc. facility, as an Environmental Steward. The acknowledgement is the highest level of achievement in the Environmental Stewardship Initiative led by the DEQ, according to a Bridgestone release.
The plant, which employs more than 45 people, received the recognition for a record of environmental performance and a pledge to continue that commitment. The DEQ took note of the Gastonia plant's zero-waste landfill efforts, Bridgestone said.
Michael Regan, DEQ secretary, presented the Environmental Steward award during a ceremony at the Gastonia plant Nov. 16.
