WEST POINT, Miss.—About 200 volunteers from Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Mississippi and non-profit organization KaBOOM! banded together to build a new, eco-friendly children's playground in West Point Oct. 28.
The new playground will benefit more than 700 children in West Point, where YTMM has a 1 million-sq.-ft. high-tech manufacturing facility, Yokohama said.
Highlights of the playground include the installation of brightly colored, environmentally safe "Cradle to Grave" certified playground equipment, according to YTMM.
YTMM and KaBOOM!, a charity devoted to providing playground space to poor children, met with local parent in West Point and their children in August to help design the playground and pick out color schemes and equipment, the tire maker said.
This is the third time Yokohama and KaBOOM! have collaborated to create a playground, according to Yokohama. The first two were built in Southern California and Rockland, Mass., the company said.
