HOLLYWOOD, Fla.—Chiorino Group, a family owned company headquartered in Biella, Italy, is making a new commitment to growth in the Americas by investing in new staff.
The investment, the total of which is still being budgeted, will go toward hiring eight to 10 new sales and customer service staff in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, according to Chiorino U.S.A. President Bert Flieger, who discussed the firm's plans at the recent 2017 NIBA/PTDA Joint Industry Summit in Hollywood.
While the company is known for its belting products in the food, paper, box, printing, and material handling industries in Europe, American customers didn't know about its wider range of products, Flieger said.
"The market in the Americas wasn't aware of all of the products we had," Flieger said. "We're going to be making investments in people and capabilities in the U.S. in order to support the growth of our organization. The family is committed to growth in the U.S. market."
The new investment and hires are likely to come in 2018, he said.
Chiorino U.S.A., which was established in 1983, already has two locations in the U.S.—its headquarters in Newark and a branch in Dallas. The new sales and support staff will cover the entire country, rather than focusing on serving a particular region.
"As the business has been growing strongly over the last few years and continues to grow strong, we want to work to get ahead of the curve so we can meet the requirements of our customers in anticipation of growth," he said.
Chiorino Group has been successful as a market leader with a focus on Europe for some time, but the company is branching out to the larger markets around the world both in the Americas and Asia, Flieger said. On top of bringing in drivers like Flieger, who joined Chiorino in July 2017, Chiorino Group is supporting worldwide growth with investment and backup from the Italian organization.
While Chiorino U.S.A.'s team will work out of the Newark headquarters, the company doesn't have any presence yet in Mexico or Canada. Part of the planned expansion will be working more closely with distributor partners in those nations, Flieger said.
