HOUSTON—Goodyear's Houston chemical plant has earned certification to Voluntary Protection Program Star Status by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration.
Goodyear Houston is the fourth of the company's four U.S. chemical plants to achieve VPP certification, which recognizes companies for outstanding safety and health management systems and maintaining injury and illness rates below national Bureau of Labor Statistics averages. Star status is OSHA's highest VPP certification level.
The Houston facility will engage with other Goodyear facilities as well as other VPP Star companies in sharing best practices and proactive collaboration to promote safety capabilities, Brad Ioerger, general manager for North America Chemical Operations for Goodyear, said in a company release.
